Published by under cake,events,holiday,recipes

Each year around this time, my hubby and I try to come up with a plan for Valentine’s Day and usually it winds up being an overpriced meal out because we’re both too tired to cook. But this year, we are staying in and I am honored to have been asked to be a [...]

Baking Basics: Ganache

I find that many people are intimidated by baking because they’ve always been told that they need to be very careful to measure everything exactly or their cake, pastry, icing, etc will not turn out correctly. While this is true, there is no need to be intimidated. Baking is all science and math, and like [...]

Published by under fruits,recipes

With Fall upon us, the time to pick Jersey peaches is quickly winding down. So last weekend, I set out to make sure I got my peach picking in before it was too late. After buying way too many peaches at the orchard, I was left with the dilemma of what on earth to do [...]

When I think about Thanksgiving, I think about eating a heavy meal followed by some heavy desserts, so this year I decided to change it up a bit and create some great light French Macarons inspired by Thanksgiving pies. The first macaron was a cinnamon macaron with a pumpkin frosting, aka “Pumpkin Pie”, and the [...]

Did you know that candying fruit should be a 30 day process to remove all of the water and replace it with sugar? Each day boil the fruit in a [...]

Happy Friday everyone! Enjoy these chocolate covered strawberries! To make the tuxedo strawberry, dip a strawberry in either melted white chocolate or whipped cream. Then dip each side into melted semi-sweet chocolate.  Use a toothpick to help you create the “buttons” and bowtie.

Holiday Chocolate Tart

Something about the holiday time always makes me think of chocolate tarts. Maybe it’s the buttery, sweet crust. Maybe it’s the melt in your mouth chocolatey richness, but when I heard my family was going to come visit today, I just knew this has to be the dessert.

Just made these pumpkin cookies for Thanksgiving tomorrow and let me tell you, they are the softest cookies ever (and delicious too)!! My husband hates pumpkin and usually refuses to eat anything with it, but even he couldn’t resist these! I originally saw these cookies on sporkorfoon.com and at the time ran out to buy [...]

Breakfast Pizza

This past weekend I got a chance to try a recipe I’ve been eye-ing for a while. It’s called Breakfast pizza, but honestly, it could be called Dessert Pizza as well. It was delicious! I modified one of Giada De Laurentiis recipes that I saw on Food Network a while back. The pizza is made [...]
