Baking Basics: Ganache

I find that many people are intimidated by baking because they’ve always been told that they need to be very careful to measure everything exactly or their cake, pastry, icing, etc will not turn out correctly. Delicious and Juicy Peach Crisp

Published by under fruits,recipes

With Fall upon us, the time to pick Jersey peaches is quickly winding down. So last weekend, I set out to make sure I got my peach picking in before it was too late. After buying way too many peaches at the orchard, I was left with the dilemma of what on earth to do [...]

French Macarons Inspired by Thanksgiving Pies

Published by under cookies,holiday,recipes

When I think about Thanksgiving, I think about eating a heavy meal followed by some heavy desserts, so this year I decided to change it up a bit and create some great light French Macarons inspired by Thanksgiving pies. The first macaron was a cinnamon macaron with a pumpkin frosting, aka “Pumpkin Pie”, and the [...]

Strawberry Tarragon Ice-Pops

Published by under fruits,recipes

With this heat wave upon us, what better way to cool down then by making some gourmet ice-pops at home? I got inspiration for these pops from making a macerated strawberry salad in pastry school. The salad was made from strawberries, a herb of our choice, sugar, and an acid. If it was so refreshing [...]

About a year ago I took a cooking class and at the end of the class we were given a recipe for a plum tart that I’ve been dying to try ever since. Last weekend, I finally got the chance!

Green Tea Marshmallows

Published by under random,recipes

A fellow dessert lover, Josephine, gave me some of her green tea marshmallows to taste. Don’t they look pretty? They were incredibly moist and actually had quite a strong green tea flavor that surprised me a bit. Too often people make green tea desserts that have such a subtle flavor you can barely tell they’re [...]

Mother’s Day Sour Cherry Pie

Published by under fruits,holiday,pie,recipes

Happy Mothers Day everyone! Today I made a sour cherry pie and since I’ve never made a 2-crust pie before, this was quite an undertaking. Last year, I took a pastry class at the Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) in NYC and this was the first time I was able to put what I learned [...]
