In order to have a better understanding of pastry, I think it’s important that I taste lots of different pastries all around town! It’s always nice to have a good excuse to eat desserts and as a part of school sometimes my homework is go to the French pastry shops.
This week I went to the Petrossian Boutique and Cafe which is actually right near my apartment. Funny how many new places you notice around town when you just keep your eyes open. This place has been at this location for years and I’ve always walked by without even noticing it, but now that I’m on the look-out I found it in 2 seconds.
I chose to have was a strawberry-pistachio fruit tart with candied orange peel. The tart was honestly a bit too moist for me. I think because the crust was actually puff pastry it did not absorb the moisture from the cooked strawberries as much as dough would have. It was also quite difficult to cut through so it wound up making quite a large mess.
The place itself though looked like a great place to get a late breakfast. I think I’ll try it again but maybe get an almond croissant or some of the delicious looking chocolates instead.
